I ‘m going to install Windows 7 Professional on my laptop soon and I wanted to know what would be the best Anti-Virus Internet Security software to use. McAfee? Norton? Avast? Other? I’m using the 32 bit and I want something that is not going to slow down my computer but yet powerful and effective enough to keep me safe. I get software at very good discount prices so pricing is not an issue.

I have always used norton as it is insanely secure, however, it is also insanely slow. It slows down any PC considerably.

Can you please tell me other internet security and anti-virus programs and tell me the pros and cons of each one?

I have norton that came with the computer (hp)…is that enough?

I’m trying to explore other options than Norton for my network here at work. WE’re running approx. 25 computers off of Microsoft Exchange server.

I have Norton 20005 internet security. However, When I open MS Outlook, the program always crushes. As a result, I am searching for a relaible Internet security, (firewall, anti-virus software.)

I would like to know… I am currently considering Avast, Norton and a few others… but what would you suggest? specifically.

norton or anything else that takes up more than 256 megs of memory are out of the question.

norton is the biggest memory hog in the market. it slows your computer down so much that it was a waste of money for the memory that you put in. i want something that gives a punch without sacrificing speed
trend micro detects viruses before they install themselves, no matter what it is that you open

Is the anti-virus enough?? Or do I need a security suite?? Does the security suite slow down the computer or throw in annoying firewalls that block file sharing programs??

What is the best thing to do?

It seems if I go with a straight antivirus software I should get BitDefender….but Norton if I want a Security Suite….

I had Norton before but I heard from some people that it only costs a lot and that it lets a lot of viruses pass by. I’m not sure if I should believe them, but I definitely am open to new options. Because I am totally ignorant about computers, I need all the advice I can get. Please help!
