What is your opinion on video surveillance cameras inside your office or workplace?

I’m not talking about retail locations, for example, because I think they are more than justified there, but I’m talking about in a private office setting. Do you think it is a good idea or a bad idea? Have you ever worked at a place that had them?

Are they there to provide security to the building, the parking areas and the employees or are they there to catch employees breaking the rules or stealing company equipment? Either way unless you are one of the ones breaking rules and stealing it should give you a safer feeling.
Yes, I have worked at places where they had closed circuit TV cameras. It felt creepy, but then eventually I ignored them. As long as you are not into unprofessional behavior in front of the camera, disregard them.
One place handled cash, so keeping an eye on employees made sense. At a production plant, two women were caught on camera fighting. The one who claimed she was a victim turned out to be the perpetrator and was terminated.
